Don't break out the party hats and beer just yet, but last week both Sen. Obama and Sen. McCain came out saying that mountain top removal mining is a practice that should be stopped.

This is a great start. Obviously, Environmental Action is supporting Sen. Barck Obama in his bid for the presidency, though one issue we've taken with the Senator is his support for 'clean coal' (which is not unlike supporting 'clearcut forests' or 'healthy toxics').

So while I'm glad to see both Presidential candidates come out against MTR, my worry is either of them, once in office, could approach the issue as, 'well it should be ended, but it's really up to the STATES', or some such silliness.
