"Clear Skies" Fight

The highest priority in our fight for cleaner air is defeating the Unhealthy Skies Initiative, cynically dubbed "Clear Skies Initiative". This bill was a result of a 2005 alliance between power plant companies and their cohorts in the Bush administration that would allow power plants to continue pumping a host of pollutants into our skies - especially mercury.

Thanks to a large field operation and thousands of concerned citizens, Environmental Action and our environmental allies were able to beat back Unhealthy Skies in the last Congress. We will keep vigilant in the 111th Congress to make sure this horrible legislation doesn't ever turn into reality.
