Roundup is too dangerous to allow this

Bayer, the manufacturer of Roundup, is trying to make it impossible for people harmed by its products to sue.

Roundup doesn’t discriminate. It’s applied on farm fields to kill weeds that choke out crops — but it also kills countless other plants, including the milkweed monarch butterflies need to survive.

It’s a disaster for the environment, and it’s bad for human health, too. The cancer research arm of the World Health Organization has called glyphosate, agricultural Roundup’s main ingredient, a “probable human carcinogen” since 2015.

Bayer is trying to protect itself from lawsuits related to Roundup

Bayer has paid out billions of dollars to plaintiffs in lawsuits alleging that Roundup caused their cancer. Now, the company is lobbying Congress to shield it from future litigation by slipping a small clause into the must-pass Farm Bill.

When Roundup hurts people, they should be allowed to sue the manufacturer. That’s why we need to call on our U.S. senators to oppose Bayer’s attempt to shield itself from Roundup lawsuits.

Roundup is bad for the environment and human health

More than 9 million tons of toxic Roundup have been sprayed around the world in the last 50 years. Soaking our ecosystems in this toxic weed killer has a devastating cost.

It harms wildlife: In fact, it’s been identified as one of the reasons monarch butterfly numbers in the West have declined as much as 95%.

And it harms people: More than 130,000 lawsuits have been brought against Monsanto — Roundup’s original manufacturer — and Bayer by people claiming their exposure to Roundup caused cancer. A federal court ruled that Bayer didn’t do enough to warn these people about Roundup’s potential risks.

Tell your U.S. senators to help hold Bayer accountable for the harm its products can cause

Really, we need to stop using Roundup unless and until it’s proven safe. But before we win a ban on Roundup for good, it still makes sense to hold Bayer accountable when its products harm people.

That’s why we need to message our U.S. senators today and stop Bayer from dodging accountability for the harm Roundup can cause.
