Smucker’s won’t like these stickers
A lot has happened in the last couple of weeks ,so I wanted to share a quick update on our campaign to get Smucker's to stop blocking GMO labels and what else is coming up.
We had a major breakthrough last week, when Smucker's Vice President of Corporate Communications, Maribeth Burns reached out to us to set up a meeting regarding Smucker's position on GMO labeling. The exact date needs to be finalized, but it should be by the end of March. It's clear that all our grassroots pressure has Smucker's attention.
So far, 45,000 people have signed a petition calling on Smucker's to stop blocking GMO labeling, we've run hundreds of thousands of internet ads about Smucker's hiding what's in its jams, and local activists held a rally at Smucker's pastoral headquarters in Orville, OH.
So, what's next?
Right now, we're prepping for our meeting at the end of the month and keeping a few tools in our toolbelt in case Smucker's doesn't see the light on GMOs.
We've just purchased hundreds of these stickers to distribute to our members across the country, and developed a patch through calling tool that will allow us to make thousands of phone calls, spread throughout several days, into Smucker's customer service line.
Stay tuned for updates on our meeting with Smucker's Vice President.
