Take action to win protection for endangered giraffes
Re: docket no. FWS-HQ-ES-2024-0157
Giraffe populations are on the decline, in part due to international demand for giraffe trophies. Giraffe hide, bones, and other parts are being used as material for consumer goods in the U.S. and around the world.
Granting the protection of the Endangered Species Act to giraffes would outlaw the unpermitted import of giraffe trophies into the U.S., cutting off one of the incentives to hunt these magnificent animals.
In order to protect shrinking giraffe populations from extinction, I strongly urge you to grant endangered species protection to all three subspecies of northern giraffe, the Masai giraffe, and the reticulated giraffe.
