Tell North Carolina Governor Cooper: Give endangered red wolves safe passage
Dear Governor Cooper,
When an endangered red wolf is struck and killed by a car, it puts their whole species in jeopardy. Endangered red wolves won’t be able to recover if they keep getting killed. They need wildlife crossings over busy highways so that they can avoid traffic and roam free.
You have an opportunity to help the only remaining wild red wolves by supporting wildlife corridors near red wolf habitat in North Carolina. A bridge or tunnel that the wolves could use to bypass the busy Highway 64 next to their refuge would help keep them safe from cars.
There is federal grant money available to help establish new wildlife crossings, created by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Please work with the NC Department of Transportation to apply for a grant for wildlife crossings on Highway 64 and other roads near the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge.
Wildlife corridors can help save wolves from deadly car crashes. Help give them safe passage.
