Costco CEO Ron Vachris,

We, the undersigned, urge Costco to reduce its plastic footprint by taking unnecessary packaging off its shelves. Too often, Costco shoppers leave the store with not only the items they came for, but also excessive and supersized packaging. As just one example, customers have brought home a 2-inch jar of eye cream encased in 10-inch by 11-inch packaging.

Costco can and should do better for our environment. As one of America’s most popular places to shop, Costco can have a profound impact on the amount of waste entering our environment by curbing excessive packaging. Costco will also set a positive example for others in the industry to follow.
