Fishing, pollution, and more are putting Cashes Ledge at risk.

Off the coast of New England, the ocean ecosystem is home to a diversity of wildlife and a vast underwater mountain range. This wild and special place is also an important wintering ground for the Atlantic Puffin.

But Cashes Ledge is at risk: Rising temperatures, increasing pollution, and overfishing have damaged the ecosystem. That’s why we’re calling on President Biden to support permanent protections for Cashes Ledge. Will you join us?

Take action to protect the whales, puffins, and other wildlife of Cashes Ledge.

Cashes Ledge is a hub for marine mammals. Humpback whales, right whales, and Atlantic white-sided dolphins can be seen at the surface. Along the seafloor, there are delicate feather stars, rare sponges, and clusters of sea anemones.

And emerging research has discovered that it’s also a critical winter home for the Atlantic Puffin, which is at risk of extinction.

The underwater landscape itself is a fascinating place. Aside from its cliffs and Ledge, Cashes Ledge has the largest and deepest continuous kelp forest in offshore waters off the eastern United States.

But right now, Cashes Ledge is facing rising temperatures, noise pollution and overharvesting. Designating Cashes Ledge a national marine monument will give this special place permanent protections and help to keep it wild and intact.

By sending a message today, you can help build the necessary support to protect this unique place.
